Tesla delivers first 30 Model 3 EVs, details new specs and pricing

Tesla officially delivered the first Model 3 EVs to customers at an event Friday night in Fremont, California, revealing new specs and pricing that left its fans excited and some analysts skeptical.

The big news of the night: there will be two versions of the Model 3, offering differing ranges. The Standard model costs $35,000, offers 220 miles of range, does 0-60 miles per hour in 5.6 seconds, and has a top speed of 130 mph. The Long Range Model 3 offers 310 miles per charge. It’s slightly faster, doing 0-60 in 5.1 seconds, with a 140-mph top speed. It’s more expensive, though, at $44,000.

Musk says that Tesla has made 50 Model 3s this month, 30 for customers and 20 for validation. Customers ordering now will get their Model 3s at the end of next year, but S and X buyers only have to wait until the end of next month, because those cars are already in production.

The first one goes to Elon Musk, as we’ve learned before. Tesla board member Steve Jurvetson – who scored the first Model S and the second Model X – posted photos of the fifth Model 3 on Twitter.

The event began with attendees posting photos of the Model 3 (and booze and snacks) to social media – and then we heard about the Model S and Model X, before going to a crowd at the Gigafactory in Nevada. Part 3 of Tesla’s Master Plan is in effect, we hear. We had an update on manufacturing, with an emphasis on delivering a product on time. Then 11-year-old Bria Loveday came onstage, and Tesla played the top three Project Loveday fan-made ad videos. Loveday said she doesn’t have a favorite.

The main event followed, as Musk took the stage. He talked about the future of vehicles and how the Model 3 fits into that framework. Talking about its simple, uncluttered interior, Musk noted that you won’t need to look at an instrument panel when cars are autonomous, and all Tesla models, including the Model 3, offer the hardware to allow for full autonomy.

Musk played a safety video comparing the Tesla Model 3 to the Volvo S60, “one of the safest cars in the world,” he said. After the video, he called the Volvo the “second safest car in the world,” playing up the safety of the Model 3.

“Welcome to production hell,” he said about the next six months of building the Model 3. People are hounding Tesla and Musk for their vehicles but he’s hoping for 10,000 cars per week by the end of next year. He also notes that when the Gigafactory is done, it’ll produce more lithium-ion batteries than the rest of the world combined. As for charging, Tesla says it will be tripling the number of Superchargers by the end of next year. “Eventually you’ll be able to go anywhere on Earth” and use a Supercharger.

Hungry for more Model 3 news? So are we, and there’ll be more to come. Take a look at what we already know here, and stay tuned for any breaking news in the near future.

World’s Most Beautiful Universities…. Photos

University of Cambridge, UK.
Established in the early 13th Century, Cambridge is regarded as very beautiful, and also one of the best universities in the world. The most famous building at Cambridge, King’s College Chapel, is a great example of Gothic architecture.

University of Cape Town, South Africa.
Set against the unique background of natural South Africa, Cape Town University is the second oldest university in Africa. The main campus area is located near the slopes of Devil’s Peak, with the mountains looming ominously above the main buildings. There are also lions on campus. Maybe.

Pepperdine University, America.
Overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Malibu, California, Pepperdine is hard to beat when it comes to breath-taking views. It’s iconic Mediterranean architecture adds to the coastal feel of the campus, making it a very lovely place to study.

Moscow State Building, Russia.
The statuesque main building of Moscow State stands apart from the rest. Its stately features are reflected in a pool at its base—though relatively young, the university is still a striking feature of Moscow, along with the bears.

University of Otago, New Zealand
Situated in the already picturesque New Zealand, this university’s campus simply builds off of the natural beauty around it. The buildings combine both the old and new while blending seamlessly with the green spaces and the Leith River winding through the heart of campus. It also has lovely blossoms, as you can see.

University of Oxford, UK.
Going back to Old Blighty, Oxford is a rather attractive university. Although it does not have a central ‘campus,’ its 38 unique colleges are each beautiful in their own respect. Highlights include Christchurch, Magdalen College, and New College. Centuries of various architecture can be found within meters of each other, and it truly makes visiting Oxford a magical experience.

The Queens University of Belfast, Northern Ireland
The face of the university, the Lanyon Building, was built in 1849 in the Tudor Gothic style. Though not all of the university buildings adhere to this aesthetic, the red brick provides a warm welcome to all those who visit.

Xiamen University, China.
Situated by the Xiamen Bay, the campus backs up into the foothills of green mountains. Serene views and a mix of modern and classic Chinese architecture greet visitors to the campus, which is one of the main tourist attractions in Xiamen. Which is in the southeast of China.

Aarhus University, Denmark.
Planned and constructed in the 1930s while still continuing construction into today, Aarhus University is one of the more recent universities on the list. The campus has a unified, cohesive look, achieved by fabricating all buildings with a yellow brick. Its location among a hilly park forms an inviting place to take a stroll.

Wroclaw University of Technology, Poland.
With buildings spreading throughout the city of Wroclaw, this university has diverse range of building types with emphasis on modernist designs. Its main facilities are clustered near the calm Oder River.

Add These to Your Breakfast to Stay Full and Lose Weight

Breakfast was one of those things I never took too seriously. I would normally grab whatever was most convenient on my way out the door in the morning, and that was the extent of my morning meal. However, like clockwork, I became painfully hungry by 10 a.m., at which point I would either overeat or reach for the closest food I could get my hands on. I knew I had to change my breakfast game if I wanted to stay healthy. So I set out to revamp my outlook on breakfast, and by adding these six ingredients to my morning grub, I kept a clean diet for the rest of the day and kept off the extra weight.

More Calories

I used to be frightened of consuming too many calories in the morning, but putting small amounts of food into my belly in the morning only made me binge-eat later, so I chose to beef up the sheer amount of food I was eating every morning. Now I try to consume around 400 to 500 calories for breakfast, which usually comes in the form of a nutrition-packed green smoothie. Simply having all that sustenance in my body stops me from snacking before lunchtime rolls around.

A Scoop of Coconut Oil

There has been a lot of debate over coconut oil lately and whether it’s good for you. But many experts say that when eaten in moderation along with a healthy diet, unrefined extra-virgin coconut oil can do great things for your weight-loss goals. The saturated fats in coconut oil differ from the saturated fats found in animal sources and are believed to be burned as fuel for your body rather than being stored as fat. By spreading a tablespoon on my sprouted toast or tossing it into my smoothie, I stay full for longer and feel more energetic.

Chia Seeds

Chia seeds are high in protein, fiber, calcium, antioxidants, and omega-3s and can be made in a variety of ways for breakfast. I like to soak two tablespoons of chia seeds in unsweetened almond milk overnight, which gives me a delicious chia pudding that has 11 grams of fiber and four grams of protein. I also add fresh fruit and some cinnamon, and it feels like a morning dessert!

My smoothies have gotten a serious upgrade since I started adding in a quarter of an avocado, which has 3.4 grams of fiber. Avocado is a food that prevents bloating, curbs hunger, and makes you feel fuller in the long run. Plus, I can’t think of anything that tastes better on morning toast.

Dark Chocolate

This sounds unconventional, but it’s a weird (and tasty) trick that has been my saving grace. A study conducted at Tel Aviv University found that participants who ate a 600-calorie breakfast that included dessert lost, on average, 40 more pounds than those who ate a smaller, more restrictive breakfast. I can totally see why that’s the case. There’s something about indulging in the early morning that keeps me from wanting to mindlessly snack for the rest of the day.

Plant-Based Protein Powder

Merely consuming more protein will help you stay fuller for longer, so I made it a priority to eat more in the morning. I never make a smoothie anymore without adding in one or two scoops of Garden of Life Sport Plant-Based Protein Powder, which has 30 grams of all-natural protein and only seven grams of carbs. It’s a miracle worker that tastes decadent and fills my belly for the next several hours.

Wenger must do whatever it takes to keep PSG target Alexis at Arsenal, says Seaman

Arsene Wenger has been told by former Gunners goalkeeper David Seaman to do “whatever it takes” to keep Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain target Alexis Sanchez at Arsenal.

The Chile international playmaker reportedly was made a priority target by City boss Pep Guardiola and a deal looked close, with Alexis agreeing terms at the Etihad club.

However, Arsenal’s reluctance to sell to a Premier League rival apparently slowed the process and allowed PSG to hold talks with the 28-year-old and his representatives in Paris last week. Image result for Wenger must do whatever it takes to keep PSG target Alexis at Arsenal, says Seaman

City remain determined to land Alexis, though PSG are reportedly willing to throw a substantial amount of money on top of whatever the Premier League side offer.

Seaman, however, believes Wenger and the Arsenal chiefs must not let their talisman leave north London under any circumstances if they are to stand any chance of mounting a serious title challenge next season.

“[Arsene Wenger’s] main problem is going to be holding on to Alexis Sanchez,” Seaman told Goal. “I would do whatever it takes to hold on to him because he’s a quality player who you wouldn’t want to be leaving the club, especially to your rivals.

“Sanchez-type players are the ones Arsenal should be bringing in.”

Seaman Alexis PS GFX

Alexis struck 24 Premier League goals last season with another six coming in cup competitions, and registered 13 assists across the board.

With just a year remaining on his contract at the Emirates, however, and with Arsenal having failed to qualify for the Champions League next season, a lucrative move away seems likely.

Arsenal have brought in Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon to bolster their forward unit, but Seaman believes the Gunners would have a hard time finding a direct replacement for Alexis should he leave the club.

“To replace him, It’d be hard,” he added. “What are they going to get for him? He’s got a year left on his contract, his price-tag, I’d guess, would be around £50-70 million – you can’t guarantee spending that money and getting a player as good as Sanchez.

“He’s a guy who is just brilliant all over the pitch.”

The failure to finish in a top-four position last term has seen a host of first-team players linked with a summer exit, with Mesut Ozil at the forefront of the speculation. Image result for Wenger must do whatever it takes to keep PSG target Alexis at Arsenal, says Seaman

The Germany international also sees his deal expire at the end of the upcoming season, though contract talks are currently ongoing.

And, like Alexis, Seaman believes it’d be a major blow for Arsenal to lose Ozil, though is confident they are in a position to offer him what he wants.

“I think that is more or less settled now. I think he’s going to stay,” Seaman said. “He’s another one of those players who splits the fans but he’s a quality player. You can’t take that away from him — when he’s on his game he is brilliant.

“It’s just the way he looks on the pitch sometimes, like he’s not trying, but trust me he is, you can tell he is. It’s the same situation as Sanchez, you don’t want players of the standard leaving Arsenal.

“Arsenal were at this stage a few years ago when Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy left — they were reaching their prime but leaving. It was sad.

“I think the club have moved on from that now and they can offer the right contracts for the big players and also pay the fees.”

David Seaman is the Brand Ambassador and leads the judging panel for SpottoCash, a spot-the-ball competition for the digital generation.

Simple Ways To Reduce Your Cholesterol

Two diets are recommended to reduce cholesterol: a plant based diet or a Mediterranean diet.

Whichever plan you select, the principles of a cholesterol lowering diet include:

  • Reduce fat, saturated fat, and trans fat in particular. Big sources of saturated fat in the American diet are red meat, processed meats like bacon or sausage, and cheese. Sources of trans fat are found in fried foods and baked goods. Limit or omit these foods from your daily intake.
  • Increase your daily intake of Fiber. Aim to get between 25–35 grams of fiber per day. Good sources of fiber include whole grains, beans and legumes, fruits and vegetables. If you don’t currently get enough fiber in your diet, it is important to increase your intake gradually to allow time for your body to adjust to the increase.
  • Include sources of omega 3 in your diet. Good sources of omega 3 fatty acids include wild salmon and other fish, flax seeds and other seeds, walnuts and other nuts.
  • Include soy in your diet. Try soybeans or tofu to aid with lowering your LDL (“bad” cholesterol).
  • Avoid processed food.
  • Lose 10% of your body weight if you are overweight or obese.
  • Do 30 – 60 minutes of physical activity most days of the week.

3 things you should do every day if you want to be successful

When it comes to money, it’s easy to understand how daily habits add up. There are simple equations you can use and routines you can set up to make sure you stay within your budget.

But optimizing how we spend time is more difficult, psychologists say. Spending the odd hour scrolling through social media doesn’t seem like such a bad thing until we realize what that time could have been used to accomplish.

Business titans like Bill Gates, Tony Robbins and Warren Buffett know that over time, daily habits can amount to big achievements. That’s why they make a point of adhering to a few specific ones.

Here are three things to do every day to become more successful:

1. Take time to process

Every morning, Tony Robbins starts his day with 10 minutes of meditation that involves a specific breathing technique, prayer and a pep talk.

It sets him up for success, he says, because he primes himself to be grateful and calm. Having quiet time to analyze your thoughts is associated with stress reduction, studies show.

Meditation is also shown to boost activity in areas of the brain related to paying attention, indicating it could help you focus better throughout the day.

If you’re interested in starting a meditation practice, entrepreneur and author Tim Ferriss has some great advice.

“Start small, rig the game so you can win it, get in five sessions before you get too ambitious with length,” Ferriss says on his podcast. “You have to win those early sessions so you establish it as a habit, so you don’t have the cognitive fatigue of that practice.”

Begin with a two-minute routine a Harvard-trained psychologist recommends to help you relax.

2. Go on a daily walk or to the gym

Spending even just a few minutes every day exercising will clear your head and make you feel more motivated, studies show. That’s one of the reasons many successful business leaders make sure to work out.

Twitter co-founder and Square CEO Jack Dorsey likes to run six miles every morning. Oprah Winfrey practices yoga and makes sure to log over 10,000 steps each day on her fitness tracker.

Billionaire Richard Branson says his morning routine of waking up at 5 a.m. to play tennis or bike has doubled his productivity.

“I definitely can achieve twice as much by keeping fit,” Branson tells FourYourBodyPress. “It keeps the brain functioning well.”

If you don’t have time to go to the gym, take five minutes to go on a walk. Stanford researchers found that the very act of walking boosted a person’s creativity by an average of 60 percent.

3. Pick up a book

Both Gates and Buffett make a point to read every day, a habit that research shows reduces stress and boosts intelligence.

“Reading books is my favorite way to learn about a new topic,” Gates writes on his blog. “I’ve been reading a book a week on average since I was a kid. Even when my schedule is out of control, I carve out a lot of time for reading.”

Every evening before bed, he reads for one hour. By making time every day, he reads a whopping 50 books each year.

Buffett too credits much of his prowess to reading. He says he starts every morning by pouring over several newspapers and estimates he spends as much as 80 percent of his day reading.

When asked once about the key to success, the Berkshire Hathaway CEO pointed to a stack of books and said, “Read 500 pages like this every day. That’s how knowledge works. It builds up, like compound interest. All of you can do it, but I guarantee not many of you will do it.”

As Ferriss writes in his popular book “Tools of Titans,” habits are more important than we think.

“To enjoy life, you don’t need fancy nonsense,” Ferris writes, “but you do need to control your time.”
