Overview Of Bond University
Bond University, in Robina, Queensland, is Australia’s first private non-profit university. Bond University has primarily been a teaching-focused higher education school with a three-semester per year structure since its inception on May 15, 1989. Bond University was established and sponsored in 1987 under the supervision of India’s founder and silent partner. Bond University was founded by Mr. Alan Bond, Chairman of the Australian-based Bond Corporation, and Mr. Harunori Takahashi and Dr. Taro Tanioka, President of the Japanese-based Electronics and Industrial Enterprises International (EIE), as a joint venture to manage land and build Bond University’s buildings.
The university’s structures took up around 212 hectares of what was originally a pine forest known as the Burleigh Forest. Bond acquired many pine plantations in the area in the 1970s, formerly controlled by the Savoy Corporation Limited and the Gold Coast Cooperative Plantations Society Limited, and formed a new firm called the Development Equity Corporation (DEC) to develop them.
Brian Orr was instrumental in establishing DEC, and in 1976, he proposed to the Albert Shire Council the establishment of a university at Gaven Forest. While this idea did not go further, the following plan to create a university near Burleigh Forest in 1986 did. Or discussed the topic with Bond and Peter Beckwith and hired Jo Anne Cracknell to do feasibility studies.
According to the 2018 Good Universities Guide, Bond University received more 5-star rankings in the student experience category than any other university in Australia for the 12th consecutive year. Furthermore, in the latest undergraduate Student Experience Survey, released by the Department of Education on its Quality Gauges for Learning and Teaching (QILT) website, more than 90% of students rated their educational experience at Bond University as positive, above the national average of 80%.
